program
We will rest, explore the beautiful territory of the tourist base, and at 4 p.m. we will go for a walk to the Silver Spring. This is a spring on the slope of a mountain in the village—a historical place of power where you can draw water and perform a ritual of ablution. It is believed that its water contains silver and has healing properties. In 1839, the spring was consecrated by the Reverend Makarii Nevskii, founder of the Orthodox mission in Altai. There, we will also see the ritual tree and climb to the mountain observation deck to admire Lake Teletskii.
During the walk, we will do some light physical exercises to relieve the tension from the road. At 7 p.m., we will return to the Mountain Lake for dinner.
From 8:30 to 9:00 a.m., we will meet at the Gorno-Altaysk airport and take a shuttle bus to Artybash. On the way, we will stop for breakfast at a restaurant. This is a cult place for gourmets of the Manzherok resort, located 30 minutes' drive from the airport. Here we will get to know each other and relax in the comfort and beauty of a modern mountain resort.
Then we will drive for 3 hours through steppes, forests, and mountain passes to our next stop at 1 p.m. for lunch at a café with an open terrace, where we will try delicious national dishes.
At 3 p.m., we will arrive in the village of Artybash on the northern shore of the deep Teletskoye Lake, the largest and coldest lake in the Altai Mountains, where we will settle into comfortable cabins at the tourist base.
Day 1
program
The Stone Mushrooms are rocks, one to seven meters high, destroyed by time and shaped like mushrooms. For local peoples, they are evidence of the work of ancient forces, about which legends were composed.
From the slope of the mountain on which the sand-colored “mushrooms” stand, we will admire the endless blue sky, picturesque views of green mountains and the valley with the winding Chulyshman River.
At around 4 p.m., we will descend and in half an hour we will reach the base, where we will settle into our cabins.
From 6 to 7 p.m., a delicious dinner will be waiting for you in the Krasny Kamen dining room.
And at 8 p.m., a bathhouse has been reserved for us so that we can go to bed feeling refreshed and rested after such a long day. Those who still have energy left can sit around the night campfire.
On this day, we will wake up early at 5 a.m. and have breakfast to go. At 6 a.m., we will be at the ferry crossing and sail to the southern shore of Teletskoye Lake.
The trip will take about 6 hours. We will have breakfast on board the ferry, and if we wish, we can stretch our legs, play games, and practice. Throughout the route, we will admire the unique views of the mountain lake's awakening nature, emerging from the morning mist with its rocky shores, forests, and waterfalls, listen to the sound of the waves and the cries of seagulls, and breathe in all this magic.
We will transfer to a car and drive to the Chulyshman Valley to our new place of residence—a recreation center. On the way, we will have lunch at a café popular with travelers and visit the Stone Mushrooms, an amazing natural landmark not far from our base.
Day 2
program
The round trip will take 6-8 hours, depending on the speed of our group.
Once there, we will admire how the waters of Uchar cascade down the black rocks, creating its special energy. Thanks to the recesses in the rock, it will be possible to get close to the water streams, swim in the spray or in the cold pools. We will organize a picnic amid this beauty and then slowly make our way back.
Those who wish to join the rafting trip down the Chulyshman River before lunch will be picked up by an instructor from the base.
For those who stay at the base, the guide will offer options for short walks in the area, which will be convenient to take before or after lunch.
After returning to the base at 7 p.m., we will all enjoy a hearty dinner, followed by a sauna.
At 8 a.m., you will enjoy a peaceful awakening practice, either indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather. After that, from 9 to 10 a.m., you will have breakfast.
Then you can decide how to spend the day: go on a guided hike to the Uchar waterfall, go rafting with an instructor, or stay at the base and walk around the surrounding area.
The Uchar waterfall, whose name means “inaccessible,” is one of the most beautiful and memorable waterfalls in the Altai region. Uchar can only be reached on foot, overcoming many obstacles on a rocky trail, which is only accessible to people in good physical shape. A picturesque winding route leads to the waterfall along the mountainside with panoramic views of the forests and the rushing river.
Day 3
program
Returning to the car, we will climb the serpentine road to the Katuyaryk mountain pass. At the top, we will get out to look at its steep slopes and the valley we have just been in.
From the pass, we will drive to Aktash for lunch at the most delicious Altai cafe and at about 4 pm we will arrive at the tourist complex located in a secluded glade among the mountain peaks near the village of Chibit.
On this side of the Katuyaryk Pass, we return to civilization: electricity and the internet will be available, and there will be shops, pharmacies, and medical clinics in Aktash and Chibit.
After check-in, you can take a walk around the area or, for an additional fee, visit the Russian bathhouse on the premises. From 7 to 8 p.m., a delicious dinner will be waiting for you in the Kochevnik dining room.
Join our morning wellness practice from 8 to 9 a.m.! We will stretch, relieve muscle tension, and remove spinal clamps—preparing ourselves for the adventures ahead.
After breakfast, we will pack our things and at 10 a.m. we will set off for new natural attractions and our place of residence – a tourist complex near the village of Chibit.
We will drive along the picturesque Chulyshman River valley to the Kurkure Waterfall. Part of the way will be covered by boat and part on foot.
The Kurkure Waterfall is one of the most majestic in the Altai Mountains. It is located in the Chulyshman River canyon within the nature park. The roaring mountain stream of the waterfall cascades down in two tiers, each fifteen meters high. Here we will meditate to the sound of the water.
Day 4
program
After getting a bunch of otherworldly impressions, at 3 p.m. we'll head back to Aktash for lunch at the Altyn Tandyir cafe.
At 4 p.m., we'll be dropped off at the Aktash repeater site, located at an altitude of 3,000 meters on one of the peaks of the Kurai Range. From here, you can see the spacious Chuy Valley, hills, and mountain ranges, whose peaks are covered with snow all year round. In clear weather, you can even see Belukha, the highest peak of the Altai Mountains. We will watch the sunset and do some meditation to connect with the surrounding nature and infinity.
Around 6 p.m., we will return to the tourist complex, where we will have dinner and then sit by the evening campfire, enjoying the cozy silence or sharing our impressions.
On this day, after our morning practice and breakfast, we will head to the Kyzyl-Chin Colored Mountains, which are called “Mars” and “Moon.”
At 11 a.m., we will be taken to the top, to a panoramic platform above the colorful “Martian” valley. The palette of its hills is dominated by red, complemented by shades of orange, yellow, purple, terracotta, lilac, and brown. For several million years, this unique area was the basin of the giant ancient Chuy Lake. We will descend from the platform to the levels of “Mars-2” and “Mars-1” and walk through their mesmerizing labyrinthine passages.
Then we will visit “The Moon” — a similar natural formation, only with white sand and clay cliffs reminiscent of lunar landscapes.
Day 5
program
Next, we will visit the Ilgumensky rapids on the Katun River, which are very popular with rafters. We will descend to its unusual dark boulders, walk along the riverbed, and enjoy the landscapes that open up from the river.
Then we will climb to 1,295 meters above sea level and stop at the Chike Taman Pass observation deck with souvenir shops, where we will enjoy breathtaking views and purchase local souvenirs.
We will drive through the wooded Seminsky Pass, the border between Northern and Central Altai. As we climb, we will observe how the deciduous pine forest gives way to sparse cedar trees. At the observation deck, you can drink coffee and breathe in the pine-scented air.
At around 4 p.m., we will stop for lunch at a popular café with a view. From there, we will head straight to Gorno-Altaysk Airport, arriving at around 6 p.m.
Here, you will say goodbye to Altai and fly home feeling strong and refreshed!
At 8:00 a.m. on the last day of our tour, we will meet for an awakening practice, have breakfast, and leave the base at 10:00 a.m. We will return to Gorno-Altaysk, visiting natural and historical sights along the way, accompanied by the guide's stories about Altai and the places we see.
Along the way, we will stop to have a snack, stretch our legs, and meditate in beautiful scenic locations.
We will stop to see the Kalbak-Tasha petroglyphs, a site of flat stones with images of people, animals, everyday life, and traditions of the peoples who inhabited these territories from the Neolithic to the ancient Turkic era.
Further along the route, from the observation deck, we will admire the confluence of the colorful Chui and Katun rivers.
Near the village of Inya, we will see the Ininsky Bridge, nicknamed “Tsaplinsky” after its designer. It was the first double-chain suspension bridge built in Russia in 1936 and has become a cultural heritage monument.
